Lieutenant Joshi (Robin Wright) stands out in this film as indisputably human. She’s not the…nicest…person. She certainly doesn’t respect replicants as her equals. But, in the end, she dies trying to protect the replicant “K” (Ryan Gosling).
I’m definitely up for discussion about how everyone else feels about her. But, at least in the last moment – the moment this film unequivocally characterizes as the moment that matters most – she shows a heroic moment of self-sacrifice. So, I say, sure, why not? Pour one out for Madam.
Anyway, hello, welcome, and thank you for stopping by. For new visitors, here’s what this situation is all about:

General thoughts?
The universal/general
I’m gonna have to keep asking, because these questions keep popping up:
What is “real” and what is “artificial?” How do we know? What are the boundaries between the two categories?
Do human beings ever owe anything to their mechanical creations? If so, what? And if so, when does this obligation kick-in?
The specific/unique
What is a “soul?” Who “gets” one and how?
And, related…what does it mean to have the freedom of will? Or the ability to choose to desire something (or not)?
The viewer is always present
So…any new or different opinions about whether or not Deckard (Harrison Ford) is a replicant?
Did this second film contribute anything new or different to the broader Blade Runner story?
